North Raleigh Christian Academy celebrated spring Signing Day on May 13, adding five student-athletes to the list of Knights who will compete at the collegiate level next year. Representing four different sports and attending schools in and out of state, these athletes will have opportunities to live out the values of faith, leadership, and service they have learned as part of NRCA Athletics.

Lacrosse Spotlight: Jaxon Casheba

Jaxon Casheba will be heading to Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, to continue his lacrosse career. Casheba chose Barton for its team camaraderie and commitment to excellence on the field. “I really fell in love with the team's brotherhood and eagerness to win,” he said. “I also really enjoyed the campus and the location.”

Casheba would like to thank the many friends, family members, and coaches who helped him achieve his dream of collegiate athletics. He also attributes his success to his faith. He said, “First, I would like to thank God for giving me the strength and skills to play the sport I love and use it to glorify His name. I would also like to thank my parents, my friends, and my family for always being my biggest supporters in everything I do and believing in me in times I never believed in myself.”

Football Spotlight: Davin McCoy

Davin McCoy is committed to playing collegiate football at Eastern Kentucky University next year in Richmond, Kentucky. McCoy is excited to embrace this amazing opportunity. “[I chose EKU because] the coaches were super respectful to me and felt like I would contribute and play a big role for the team,” said McCoy. “The coach that recruited me also coached my dad at Army West Point, which is a big full-circle moment.”

McCoy is grateful to all his friends, family, and coaches who helped him in his journey. He would also like to thank God for the opportunities he’s been given, and the NRCA community for their support. “I want NRCA to know that this will always be home for me. I’ve been here for 13 years and the memories I have made on the field, the court, and in the classroom will always be here in my heart. I’ve given it my all, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s been real! #4 out!” said McCoy.

Football Spotlight: Matthew Clay

Matthew Clay will continue his football career at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Clay chose NC State for its closeness to home and because of his longtime support of the school’s athletic programs.

Clay would like to thank everyone who supported him on his journey to collegiate football. “I thank both my parents and Coach Chris Rivera for helping me through the recruiting process and for coaching me up to this point,” said Clay. Clay would also like to encourage younger NRCA students to not give up on their dreams. “The more you work, the more the world will look down on you for it, but it’ll all come out good. Don’t listen to the world— follow your dreams,” said Clay.

Baseball Spotlight: Maddux Sanburn

Maddux Sanburn will head to Sewanee, Tennessee, to play baseball for Sewanee: The University of the South. He chose Sewanee for the strong sense of community he found in the team.

Sanburn would like to thank the many people who have helped him achieve his dream of playing collegiate baseball. “I want to thank my coaches that have helped me with my decision, and my dad for always supporting me,” he said. “Baseball has been a big part of my life, and the decision [to play] has been something I have been back and forth with over the years. I just want to encourage [the NRCA community] not to sell yourself short and give everything in life a fair shot.”

Basketball Spotlight: Khloe Moye

Khloe Moye will continue her basketball career at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. Moye chose Fordham because it was the perfect fit for her, both academically and athletically. “I am excited for the opportunity to compete at a high level while also pursuing my goals in business and law,” said Moye.

Moye would like to thank all the coaches, friends, and family who encouraged her in her basketball journey. “A special shoutout to my sister and my parents! Thank you for your unconditional love, sacrifices, encouragement, and constant belief in me, even when things got hard. I wouldn’t be here without you,” she said. “Above all, I give all the glory to God. It has been a rough journey, but I am thankful for God guiding my steps, opening doors, and blessing me with this opportunity.”
