Lower Elementary (K–3)

Getting the right start is critical to long-term success. NRCA’s elementary curriculum is strong on spiritual formation through character education, paired with a rich array of academic content. We know parents work hard to instill values in their children, and the academy reinforces these ideals as a cornerstone of development. A student’s character is key to growth in every area. Academics build on the foundation of character.

Your child’s elementary experience will begin with just a few core daily courses that build essential skills for future learning, balanced with a wide variety of special enrichment classes that cover additional academic content, foreign language, technology, the arts, and physical education every week. As your child moves through the elementary years, the number of daily core subjects increases.

Interactive display systems and iPads are the main technology tools in the elementary division.

Upper Elementary (4–5)

Fourth and fifth graders shift from a one-room, one-teacher school day experience for daily core classes to changing classes for each subject. It’s an exciting time. Your student enjoys the stability of having a homeroom teacher and also benefits from different teaching styles and techniques by rotating through the other grade-level teachers who specialize in a particular subject area. It’s the perfect transition between elementary school and middle school.

In the intermediate grades, students become more independent as they take responsibility for transitioning to different spaces with different materials. Executive skills become essential, and the experienced upper elementary teams begin teaching organizational strategies that students will use through middle school, high school, and beyond.

Parents can keep track of student progress through PowerSchool, our online system for reporting attendance and grades. Classroom assignments, schedules, and announcements come through Schoology, our learning management system.
