Community Service Opportunities

To cultivate in our students a heart for loving their neighbor by meeting needs in the central North Carolina area, NRCA partners with local ministries that welcome student volunteers. These partnerships provide opportunities for NRCA high school students to meet their community service requirement for graduation.

Class of 2024

  • Must complete a minimum of 12 hours of community service for every year that they attend high school at NRCA

  • Must be within 100 miles of NRCA’s campus (local community)

Beginning with the Class of 2025

  • Must complete a minimum of 25 hours of community service for every year that they attend high school at NRCA. Half the required hours must be completed off-campus.

  • Must be within 100 miles of NRCA’s campus (local community)

Community Service Honors

Seniors who complete a minimum of 100 community service hours (Class of 2024) and 150 community service hours (Class of 2025 and after) prior to graduation will be honored with a silver cord at Baccalaureate.

On-Campus Service Opportunities

NRCA provides many opportunities for students to earn community service hours through on-campus events; however, our desire is for students to serve our neighbors in the Triangle area. To that end, students must earn at least half their required service hours by volunteering off-campus.

Community Service Days

NRCA will offer Community Service Days for high school students throughout the school year. Students will be able to sign up to spend the day serving with one of our partner organizations. Spots will be limited to the number that best serves the organization. Through these days, students will earn six hours toward their “off-campus” community service requirement. Students will first hear details about each trip’s location, serving opportunities, and application deadlines in Chapel. Following the Chapel announcement, NRCA families will find those details on the Family Portal.

Off-Campus Service Opportunities

Students can earn community service hours in a variety of ways, including serving with their local church or partnering with a number of nonprofit organizations in our area. Below you will find a list of local ministry partners with contact information to help students reach out and schedule independent volunteer hours. Students are responsible for finding and scheduling their own off-campus service opportunities.

Tracking Community Service Hours

NRCA will begin using MobileServe during the 2023-2024 school year to track community service hours digitally. It works with PowerSchool and is mobile-friendly. Community partners will sign off on service hours electronically, and all information will be submitted online to NRCA. We are excited to offer this streamlined tracking service. Please note that NRCA will continue to collect Community Service Forms through December 2023. Beginning January 2024, NRCA will track Community Service hours on MobileServe.
