Community Service Opportunities

To cultivate in our students a heart for loving their neighbor by meeting needs in the central North Carolina area, NRCA partners with local ministries that welcome student volunteers. These partnerships provide opportunities for NRCA high school students to meet their community service requirement for graduation.

NRCA Community Service Graduation Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 25 hours of community service for every year that they attend high school at NRCA. (Note: This does not mean that students must serve 25 hours each year, but that the total number of required hours for each student coincides with the number of years they attend high school at NRCA.)

  • Half the required hours must be completed off-campus (local community).

  • Students may serve all their hours off-campus, but they are required to serve at least half of them in the local community.

  • The local community is the area within 100 miles of NRCA’s campus.

Community Service Honors

Seniors who complete a minimum of 150 community service hours prior to graduation will be honored with a silver cord at Baccalaureate.

On-Campus Service Opportunities

NRCA provides many opportunities for students to earn community service hours through on-campus events; however, our desire is for students to serve our neighbors in the Triangle area. To that end, students must earn at least half their required service hours by volunteering off-campus.

Off-Campus Service Opportunities

Students can earn community service hours in a variety of ways, including serving with their local church or partnering with a number of nonprofit organizations in our area. Below you will find a list of local ministry partners with contact information to help students reach out and schedule independent volunteer hours. Students are responsible for finding and scheduling their own off-campus service opportunities.

Tracking Community Service Hours

NRCA uses MobileServe to track community service hours digitally. It works with PowerSchool and is mobile-friendly. Community partners sign off on service hours electronically, and all information is submitted online to NRCA. We are excited to offer this streamlined tracking service.

Note: If you are using MobileServe for the first time, you do not need to create an account. An NRCA-linked account has already been created for your student. Students should log in using their NRCA username and password.
