Meditation
Verses:"A
man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his
steps." (Proverbs 16:9)
"But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil." (Proverbs 1:33)
Questions: 1) How can you know you are doing what the Lord's perfect plan for your life is?
2) If you have gotten off track of God's plan for your life, how can you get back on?

YOUR CALENDARS NOW!
College Planning Night is Monday, September 8, 2008.
You don't want to miss this evening; a representative
from CFNC and a local College Admissions Counselor
will be there to answer your questions about the College
Planning and Admissions process. SAVE THE DATE!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2008!
As this exceptional group of young people leaves the halls of NRCA to pursue college, technical school, the military, and all that following God's path for them entails, please pray for them as they go. And please allow me to brag on them briefly. The Class of 2008 earned
over $1.7 million dollars in scholarships, with a full 44% of the class receiving scholarship money. They were accepted to a wide variety of colleges from UCLA to Chapel Hill, from Berkeley
to Liberty, and have prayerfully considered the
choices they have made. So, hug their necks, wish them well, but PRAY, PRAY, PRAY with me that they will stand unashamed of their faith (Rom. 1:16) and if that faith is not a reality for them, that God would doggedly pursue them, that they will realize that there is nowhere they will go that God is not (Ps. 139) and He will guide them, and that they would place their trust in the declaration of God in Jeremiah, that He has plans for each of them. You leave covered in prayer, Class of 2008! Shine for Jesus!

Seventh Grade History Classes Free Slaves By Tim Gardner
Mrs.Lawson's and my seventh grade History classes recently completed a mission project in which they helped in the process of freeing slaves in Africa. In the western African country of Ghana, there is a traditional pagan religious practice known as Trokosi. When a person within the local village commits a crime or a particular sin, he is judged by the priest and often given the penalty of surrendering one of his female daughters to become a slave belonging to the priest. This child is recognized by the family as well as the entire local society and government as being a slave or "Trokosi" of the priest. While this child belongs to the priest to do with what he pleases, he holds no responsibility for providing for the welfare of this child. Many Trokosi have grown up in this life of bondage and as a result have several children themselves.
Our students collected $501 for /Every Child Ministries/, which is a group of evangelical Christian missionaries working in Ghana and other surrounding countries to actually win the freedom of the Trokosi slaves. Freeing a slave in this situation is a very complicated and difficult process which requires working with Ghana's government, the local religious communities and the priests themselves. The average expense involved in freeing one Trokosi is $200. Fortunately, this includes her and any children she may have. After being freed, all the Trokosi are cared for, educated and are introduced to the freeing good news of Jesus. Though we will likely never meet any of the Trokosi we are helping to free. We are humbled by the magnitude of the opportunity we have had to purchase the freedom of ones bound in slavery just as Jesus purchased our freedom by dying for us on the cross.
