Online Research Tools

There are several subscriptions for online research tools available to students and teachers. Login and password information for each site may be obtained in the media center or school office.

eLibrary Curriculum Edition

A grades K-12 online general research tool that features more than 2,000 full-text magazines, newspapers, reference books, and transcripts - plus thousands of maps, pictures, web links, and audio/video content. In addition, eLibrary Curriculum Edition contains a separate literature unit which offers a comprehensive integrated literary reference for original full-text works, author biographies, literary criticism and more. A separate History Study Center delivers thousands of primary and secondary sources covering ancient to modern U.S. and world history.

eLibrary Elementary

An online general research tool designed for the young reader. Students use the colorful, graphical search interface to find the answers they need from more than 130 magazines, newspapers, books, transcripts, maps, images, web links, and audio/video titles, all selected as appropriate for elementary school studies.

SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS)

A comprehensive database portal which is comprised of several distinct reference databases including SIRS Researcher®, SIRS Government Reporter®, SIRS Renaissance®, SKS WebSelectTM, SIRS Discoverer®, and Discoverer WebFindTM. Updated daily, SKS provides relevant, credible information on social issues, science, history, government, the arts and humanities and provides up-to-the-minute coverage of breaking news events. Full-text articles and internet resources are carefully selected from thousands of domestic and international publications and respected organizations. Additional database content includes: a multi-volume 26,000-article encyclopedia, The World Almanac for Kids 2004, biographies of U.S. presidents, photo essays, activities, country facts, and a dictionary.
