You’re A Good Man Charlie
Brown
November 5-6 & 12-13, 2010
The fall 2010 show, YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN!, based on
the Charles Schultz’ popular comic strip, PEANUTS, comes to life
in a family event that will be celebrated throughout the holiday
season! Performances will be November 5 – 13. The cast has been
invited to perform at The Raleigh Convention Center on November
22 to an audience of 3000 ACSI educators!
The time of the action is “an average day in the life of Charlie
Brown.” It really is just that, a day made up of little moments
picked from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine’s Day
to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all
mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human)
and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain
morning to hopeful starlit evening. Along with Charlie Brown characters
such as the precocious Sally, the snooty Lucy, the consummate pianist
Schroeder, the sweet, innocent Snoopy, Charlie Brown’s beagle, the
thumb sucking philosopher, Linus, and the flighty Woodstock headline
the show.
The day seems to start off all right. After some brief comments
on the nature of his character by his friends, Charlie Brown is
swept into their center by a rousing tribute of only slightly qualified
praise, in the song You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. He is then
left to his own musings as he eats his lunch on the school playground,
complicated unbearably by the distant presence of his true love,
the “little redheaded girl,” who is always just out of sight. And
there is his best friend Snoopy who makes a major production out
of supper…
...we could go on, but that would give away the ending. Make plans
now to see the show!

The Phantom of the Opera
March 17-19 & 24-26, 2011
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s spring musical will
be Andrew Lloyd Webber’s PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! One of the most popular
stage musicals in the history of Broadway and London’s West End
makes its long-awaited arrival to the stage of North Raleigh Christian
Academy in a spectacular production that will inspire and excite
like no other performance to date.
Christine Daee, a beautiful and gifted young woman, longs to join
the company of the Paris Opera House. During rehearsals for one
of the opera’s grand productions, a backdrop falls and crashes to
the floor, nearly crushing leading lady Carlotta. When several members
of the company suggest this could be the work of the “Phantom of
the Opera,” a spectral presence is said to haunt the building, Carlotta
drops out of the show, which permits Christine to step in as her
replacement. Christine’s performance is a triumph, and on opening
night she becomes reacquainted with Raoul, a former childhood friend
who is now a wealthy and well-known nobleman. Christine soon finds
herself smitten with the handsome Raoul, but the same evening she
makes a startling discovery -- the story of the Phantom is not just
a legend. A brilliant but horribly disfigured composer lives deep
in the depths of the opera house, and taken with the beauty of Christine’s
voice, he abducts her and brings her to his lair, where he offers
to help her perfect her talents, offering to write an opera especially
for her. As the terrified Christine is comforted by Raoul, the two
fall in love, but the phantom sees her affection for Raoul as a
tremendous betrayal. He vows his vengeance. When the phantom emerges
to present the opera’s management with the piece he has written
for Christine, the singer is asked to put her life on the line in
an effort to capture the mad genius once and for all. Andrew Lloyd
Webber’s musical version of Gaston Leroux’s novel, which had already
enjoyed several stage and screen adaptations in the past, opened
in London in 1986 and has been a popular favorite around the world
ever since; the show was still running in New York and London when
the film version premiered in late 2004.
NRCA will have the incredible honor of being one of the first high
schools in the nation to perform this musical masterpiece. Auditions
will be held on August 26 and 27. Specific roles will be required
to perform specific songs and lines. These will be available on
the first day of school at Mrs. Sanderlin’s desk in the front lobby.
This show will only be cast to students in the 8th – 12th grades.
More information can be obtained by logging on to our website or
